Why is rear facing the safest way to travel?

The safest way to ride, especially for young children, is to ride rear facing.

The spine of newborns generally requires special protection, since they still have a sensitive neck.

In the event of a sudden braking or collision, the head will be completely restrained by the seat shell. If the child were to travel in the direction of travel, thanks to the seat harnesses they would be perfectly restrained. but the head would suffer a tremendous elongation and the neck would not withstand the forces produced, leading to serious or very serious injuries.
