Since 2013, the new ECE R129 regulation has been implemented in phases and one of its sections is i-Size. All car seats with i-Size regulation are installed in the vehicle with the Isofix system (for the moment a regulation entry without isofix is provided) to minimize the risk of incorrect installation. Objectives that the i-Size standard aims to achieve
1) Reduce the risk of incorrect installation: all i-Size devices must be installed exclusively with Isofix fasteners.
2) Orienting babies and children under 15 months rearward facing considerably improves head and neck protection, especially in the event of a frontal impact.
3) Classify devices according to size: i-Size devices can accommodate children up to 105 cm.
4) Provide side impact protection: i-Size certification requires a test that verifies the device's reaction to a side impact.
5) Ensure compatibility with all cars: all i-Size devices will be compatible with all seats of a car bearing the i-Size label.
